SHARE THE HOPE “2009 Year of Evangelism with Passion”
![]() A Maasai Adventist Lady takes up the challenge. Share The Hope. Beginning Tuesday January 20, 2009 the Seventh- day Adventist church launched a year and half emphasis on outreach across the globe. The church leaders hope to redouble their focus on evangelism, which will bring tens of thousands to the saving faith in Christ and ultimately lead to an increase in church membership. Share the hope is an opportunity to utilize every ministry to reach out with the Gospel message to every community. It received a formal satellite launch on Tuesday January 20 at 10:30 am, an event that was broadcast on Hope channel live. The 2009 ministries convention is the cornerstone event in the realization of the goals of this inspired initiative. In East-Central Africa region this initiative kicked of in earnest and launch programs have been done in Burundi, Uganda, Democratic republic of Congo, Tanzania, Rwanda and in several regions of ECD countries. More recently is the scheduled launch in East Africa Union in Kamagambo and in Nairobi. FOLLOW THE BIBLE On October the 11th of 2008, an unusual copy of the Bible began its journey around the world. The leather bound bible, measuring 12 by 18 inches, is written in 66 languages including Swahili. This program dubbed “Follow the Bible" is an initiative sponsored by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and its world divisions to stimulate a deeper interest in reading the Bible. The project features the multi-language Bible traveling to countries around the world and large international gatherings to recommit to the study of God's word. The journey began in the fall of 2008 in the Philippines and will travel to each world division until July of 2010 when the journey climaxes at the opening session of the General Conference Session in Atlanta in United States of America. When the bible arrives in a particular country or city, there will be large convocations or rallies conducted. Sermons will be preached on the importance of God's word. Attendees will be invited to participate in a daily Bible study plan. They will also be offered an opportunity to enroll in the Discover Bible Courses. Every member in an area where the Bible travels is encouraged to tell their friends about "Follow the Bible" and invite them to attend. There are three sample sermons prepared on the importance and inspiration of Bible Study, a daily Bible Reading Guide, Bible bookmarks and an introductory lesson. The major objective of the General Conference administration is to inspire millions of Seventh-day Adventists to further Bible Study. Recent surveys indicate that less than 50 percent of the church membership is regularly studying the Bible. "Follow the Bible" has the possibility of reigniting the desire to study God's word. It has the possibility of lifting the average church member to new heights of spirituality through God's word. What if all 16 million Seventh-day Adventists were faithfully studying God's word each day? What if they were discovering Jesus personally in His word? What if they had a new vital experience with our Lord? God would pour out His Spirit in abundance and they would see an explosion of witnessing and evangelism like the church has never seen.
