East-Central Africa Division Working Policy

This policy book reflects the 2002-2004 edition of the General Conference Working Policy amended by the Policy Review Committee of the East-Central Africa Division to reflect the realities of this field.

It contains the Constitution and Bylaws of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as adopted by General Conference Sessions, the Mission Statement of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Total Commitment to God – A Declaration of Spiritual Accountability in the Family of Faith, and the Working Policy as adopted by the General Conference Session of 2000, the Annual Councils of the General Conference Executive Committee of 2002, and the Executive Committee of the East-Central Africa Division during its year-end meetings of November 2003. This policy book bears the date 2004 as it is meant to guide the work of the Church following these meetings until it is amended by subsequent actions of a General Conference Session, an Annual Council of the General Conference Executive Committee, or an action of the Executive Committee of the East-Central Africa Division of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

It is the authoritative voice of the Church in matters relating to the administra-tion of the work of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination in all regions of the East-Central Africa Division. It is, however, a work in progress, as the Church is constantly striving to adapt to changes and circumstances. Its first edition is therefore published in loose-leaf format, so as to allow for easy updating and distribution.

Because many of the intradivision personnel employed in the East-Central Africa Division come from the former African divisions, there might be questions arising out of discrepancies between policies from these former divisions and the policies of the East-Central Africa Division. These should be addressed on a case by case basis by the Division Executive Committee.
This policy book is to be adhered to by all denominational organisations of this Division effective January 1, 2004.
