BAD ADVENTIST PATHFINDERS ACCIDENT: EAST AFRICA UNION

On Sunday December 10, 2006 around 6:30 in the morning, the accident occurred at Nandi hills escarpments leaving 4 dead on the spot - three men age rage 17 – 22 and one adult woman. About 21 pathfinders were seriously injured and are now admitted in the nearby hospital, reported to be in stable condition. Others were treated for minor injuries and shock and were discharged. An infant of about one year of age was found underneath the wrecked bus safe without any scratch.

Pastor Dan M’masi, Youth Director for East Africa Union continued to report that, just a few kilometers from Eldoret town on the Nandi hills escarpments, the ill fated bus carrying 76 Mamboleo and Obwolo pathfinder club members from Central Kenya Conference in Kisumu was headed to the city of Kisumu in the shores of Lake Victoria. Suddenly the bus driver lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure. The bus skidded off the road rolled about two hundred meters down the hill to the river bank.

The guest Speaker for the PF Camporee was Pastor Jean-Pierre Mulumba Tshimanga, Director of Youth Ministries-ECD. The theme was “Connected in Christ.” The East Africa Union Pathfinder Camporee, attended by 22,000 pathfinders, was held at Eldoret town, about 450 kms Northwest of Nairobi. It was one of the well attended ever in East Africa Union, said Pastor Tshimanga. This was one among several other youth meetings scheduled to take place before the year ends. Our prayers are with the accident victims who sustained injuries and survivors. In a special way, we remember the families and friends of the deceased.
